![]() ![]() ![]() The West Hollywood City Council approved support for the return of many in-person events. On June 27, 2022, the West Hollywood City Council approved the City’s Operating Budget and Capital Work Plan for Fiscal Years 2022-23 & 2023-24. On December 20, 2021, the West Hollywood City Council received recommendations from the City Council Ad Hoc Events Subcommittee, and it approved proposed modifications to the City’s FY2022-2023 Budgeted Special Events List, which included a recommendation to postpone Halloween Carnaval. In planning budgeted special events in FY2022-2023, the West Hollywood City Council discussed events on several occasions. It aims to inspire entertainment venues and businesses to host celebrations with patrons by producing small-scale events at stores, restaurants, and more hosting costume events and contests offering Halloween-themed meals and drinks at restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues holding Halloween-themed trivia and bingo nights presenting costume dress-up destinations with Halloween-themed decorations among other creative ideas. In 2022, the City is continuing to promote an alternative Halloween experience. In 2021, the City of West Hollywood launched an alternative Halloween experience that encourages entertainment venues and businesses to celebrate with the community creatively and safely. The decision not to hold Halloween Carnaval in 2022 was made over the course of many months and involved input and discussion from the West Hollywood City Council the City Council Ad Hoc Events Subcommittee and City Council Finance & Budget Subcommittee City staff and community members in providing feedback in comment at public meetings.ĭuring the acute phases of the COVID-19 pandemic in 20, the City did not produce Halloween Carnaval in response to safeguarding health and safety in adherence to public health guidelines. Year by year, what became known as the City’s Halloween Carnaval grew into an annual gathering of phenomenal costumes, entertainment, culture, and self-expression with a myriad of observers, revelers, exhibitionists, and performers with countless thousands of people in attendance each year. West Hollywood loves Halloween and the City is working to ensure that community members, residents, businesses, and visitors continue to enjoy Halloween in West Hollywood with a different approach, celebrating in local entertainment venues and businesses.įirst launched in 1987, West Hollywood’s celebration of Halloween is rooted in the City’s diverse culture and community. The City of West Hollywood’s Halloween Carnaval will not take place in 2022. ![]()
